About the trip

Since we have decided to keep you up to date with our wearabouts on our motorcycle trip to Spain, it is probably best, if we told you a bit about our ideas about what is coming up the next 3-4 weeks.

We (See The Crowd section) are a couple of guys, with motorcycles, living in Denmark, who have decided to spend the summer vacation traveling trough Spain. The plan started to take form durring the dark winter months, after reading an article (”Pyrenæerne – 2002 sving pÃ¥ 6 dage”) in MotorCycle Touring Club’s magasine “Touring Nyt”, where some local guys had taken the DB AutoZug from Hamburg(DE) to Narbonne(FR) and driven around the Pyrenees, first on the south side (Spanish part), then the north (and French) side. We wanted to have a longer vacation than 6 days, and we found Spain to be a bit more interessting (diverse country), so coming from an idea of traveling round the Black Sea this would be a easy ride.
So we booked the trip on AutoZug for both our bikes. This was not without trouble, as (And the do not say this on their webpages) their system did not support booking for more than 1 bike at the time, although their online system did - We found that out by calling them 2 weeks later when absolutely nothing had happened. But we finaly got the last 2 couch seats they had for the departures we wanted.

And so, a few month later, we end up with a rough sketch of a plan:

  • Departure: 22/6-2005 from Århus, driving to Hamburg and getting on the train
  • Getting of the train in Narbonne(Fr) and going straight to Andorra to get cheap liquer and beer and open a bank account
  • Driving west trough the south side of the Pyrenees
  • When hitting the west end of the Pyrenees we go south over the highlands to Madrid
  • Still hiting south we will be going to Gibraltar to visit the english enclave an maybe see if they will open an bank account for us :)
  • Unable to be going further south, we will take the road north east to around Malaga, where we know at least at couple of friends having their more turisty vacation
  • Other stop around the route will be Granada, Alicente, Valencia and Barcelona - To name a few - No firm plans yet.
  • Departure from Narbonne back to Denmark on the 14/7-2005
